23 yr old medical student gang raped….
Isn’t it a simple sentence…? But the word ‘Rape’ is scary as
no other word in this world. Since 2 days all are talking about this issue,
through TV, newspaper, facebook, twitter, whatsapp and all the possible means. Supporting
the girl in all possible means. Even I’m doing the same. Changed my profile picture
and sending messages and signing all the petitions against rape.
But will this really make a difference? I agree all are
trying their level best. Students, social workers, media, police and every
common man want justice for her.
While coming back to home I saw few people sitting on roads
putting hoardings that they are supporting her. I appreciate their gesture
towards her…. But why only her??? There are many girls/ women raped in India...
but hardly any of them come over with this. Few come up but I don’t know how
many of them get justice…. And even if they get how many of them live their
life normally…. Socially I mean.
Last night I had a
discussion over this case with my friends. Few of them were of the opinion that
she should die as she won’t be able to live her life normally…the society won’t
let her live…she won’t have a normal married life and all… to certain extent
they are right… but I did not agree to it. I wanted her to live and fight…
Women are not meant only for getting married and giving birth
to children… according to me the society needs to change their outlook towards women.
Instead of just sympathizing them, stand with them and fight against the crime.
Today I’m a working girl. While travelling, walking and even
while standing on the bus stop many such incidence happen that disturbs us… few
guys just brushes you while you are standing in the bus… even sitting on ladies
seat does not work… passing on comments and facial expressions… this is like a
routine now. But very few girls actually stand against all this.
Today I want to say that please stand united against this…
every little step can lead us to cross long ways… so lets start it from today… from
now…
I sincerely pray that that girl survives to fight… and if she
does not… may her soul does not rest in peace till she gets justice…
